New NYSC certificate has members' photographs to prevent fraud

A new certificate of national service with the passport photographs will be issued to members of the National Youth Service Corps from the 15th of November, 2015.
The NYSC Director-General, Johnson Olawumi, said this while unveiling the certificate in Abuja.
Represented by Aliu Daura, NYSC’s Director of Certification, Olawumi said the new certificates were designed with the photographs of corp members to end fraud.

"With effect from Batch ‘C’ 2014, all certificates of national service bear passport photographs of the corps member at the upper right hand corner of the certificate," he said.
“This is to guarantee the security of our certificates from forgery and to block all chances of impersonation.
“Therefore, Batch ‘C’ 2014 corps members, who are due to pass-out on Thursday, 15 October 2015, will have their certificates embossed with their photograph."

The DG said old certificates are still valid, but advised employers to reach out to the corps to confirm the authenticity of all NYSC certificates presented by prospective employees.

He noted that the new certificates also have a back code with security numbers which can only be located by the Corps.
